POLL OVERVIEW
SparkPeople.com conducted an online poll of more than 4500 dieters, both members and nonmembers of SparkPeople.com. The question was sent via a weekly e-magazine, The Weekly Spark and was also highlighted on the SparkPeople.com website during the last week of May 2006. The purpose of the poll was to discover which diet dilemma was the biggest problem for dieters.

CONFIDENCE LEVEL
The confidence level of this survey is 99 percent +/- 1.81 percent.

DEMOGRAPHICS
We did not ask demographic questions as a part of this poll; however, overall, 90% of SparkPeople users are female, 10% Male. Median age is 31.

POLL DETAILS
The poll consisted of one simple multiple choice question (Which "diet" dilemma do you struggle with?) with six answer possibilities ( Failing on the weekends; Making exercise excuses; Eating nutrient-poor calories; Starving during the day & overeating at night; Going off my diet for special occasions; None- I've transitioned from dieting to a healthy lifestyle).

FINDINGS
Over 4,500 dieters responded to our survey.
Failing on the weekends- 33 percent;
Making exercise excuses- 23 percent;
Eating nutrient-poor calories- 11 percent;
Starving during the day & overeating at night- 15 percent;
Going off my diet for special occasions- 14 percent;
None- I've transitioned from dieting to a healthy lifestyle- 3 percent.

CONCLUSIONS
SparkPeople concludes that most dieters are facing significant dilemmas in achieving their weight loss goals. The most common dilemma is the difficulty that weekend activities and pressures seem to create for making healthy dieting decisions.

RECOMMENDATIONS
A follow up survey should be conducted that examines the most significant weekend dilemmas.

The whole wheat flour makes for a dense muffin, which I like. You only need to eat one! If you want a lighter muffin try using whole wheat pastry flour, which is more finely ground and available in the bulk bins at larger grocery stores.
